Warner Bros has announced a new virtual reality experience in the DC universe.  In what is clearly a marketing tool to drive consumers to movie theaters and merchandise retailers.

Warner say you'll be able to step into the superhero shoes of Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. The VR experience will be rolled out in stages leading up to the release of Justice League on November 17.

The experience requires a  free app download onto a phone, starting 17th of September. This will give users a preview of the experience for about a minute and a half.

Stage 2 will be on 5 thru 8th of October at New York Comic-Con, where attendees will be able to get a more in-depth look at the virtual world and its capabilities.

Stage 3 will be on opening day of the Justice League movie, with a full totally emersive experience available at IMAX VR Centres.

Then finally, in December, the full, expanded  Justice League Virtual Reality: The Complete Experience will be available.

The news follows a series of VR initiatives across multiple entertainment industries. Of most note Disney has recently teamed up with Lenovo to create “Jedi Challenges,” a cutting edge virtual reality augmentation, which will allow you to experience Star Wars like never before.
